Trooper Danny Nunez has 30 years’ experience in Law Enforcement and is currently working as a Texas State Trooper patrolling I-40 since 2010. Trooper Nunez is an instructor for Midwest Counterdrug Training Center (MCTC) and Domestic Interdiction Group. Trooper Nunez started his career in San Angelo, Texas in 1993 where he worked for the Tom Green County Sheriff’s office and later became a K-9 Sgt. Trooper Nunez begin working for Texas DPS in 2002. Trooper Nunez has seized several thousands of pounds of marijuana and several hundred pounds of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine and over 7 million dollars of Illicit US Currency, stolen merchandise, and weapons which were concealed in hidden compartments. Trooper Nunez arrests include a subject wanted for Capital Murder of a Pastor in Alabama and a high ranking official with the Mexican Government for Money Laundering who had direct ties to high ranking members in the Sinaloa Cartel. Trooper Nunez assisted in the search warrants of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Trooper Nunez has been involved in several control deliveries to other states and has instructed thousands of Officers in Criminal Interdiction throughout the United States. Trooper Nunez has an expertise in highway criminal interdiction; at road level has helped identify several drug trafficking organizations by gathering intelligence on traffic stops. Trooper Nunez was Texas State Trooper of the Year in 2015 for the Amarillo District and received an award from EPIC for the largest ecstasy load Trooper Nunez has received two Chiefs Awards not many Troopers have accomplished one; he has received numerous awards at the local, state and federal level. Trooper Nunez was nominated for Motorola Trooper of the year in 2015. Trooper Nunez also received TNOA officer of the year in 2017 and 2019. Nunez has received many additional awards for his efforts in Criminal Interdiction during his career with the Texas Highway Patrol. Trooper Nunez believes that officers in Criminal Interdiction are an elite group of induvial and are wired in a different manner than the everyday officer and encourages you to stay humble and safe.
