Training for Street Survival*

This class goes into detail about how to train and prepare the handler for a critical incident involving a police canine. Gregg will discuss how to develop and implement a K-9 training program that increases the odds for handlers to make good tactical and legal decisions when faced with a rapidly evolving situation. This class will also cover several decision making and training scenarios that trainers and handlers can take with them and use in their training programs.

Clean And Clear Release Work. More Power, More Control

Perimeters and Containment*

The perimeter portion of the class will provide the student with instruction from the boots on the ground perspective on how to contain and capture suspects who have fled to evade arrest by effectively establishing a perimeter, communicating tactical broadcasts during foot pursuits, the responsibilities of responding units, what the suspect is thinking, his tricks to evading arrest, perimeter management, as well as command and control. The goal is to increase your dog’s chances of getting out of the car and being utilized to search for outstanding suspects and increasing your dog’s find ratio.

The K-9 search team tactics portion will cover K-9 search team configurations (patrol, all K-9, SWAT), the individual K-9 search team member responsibilities, effective REAL WORLD K-9 search team tactics, and K-9 search tactics for yard to yard and building environments. Mike will debrief actual K-9 incidents and provide information that will enable you to provide teach backs for members of your own department or agency.

High risk traffic stops/ K9 Deployment/ Hidden Compartments*

Course Goals/Objectives:

Attendees will receive extensive power-packed instruction in the latest and safest approaches to motor-vehicle traffic stops designed to apprehend organized gang members, wanted fugitives and major drug-traffickers. Through the eyes of real in-car camera footage, specialized instruction will be received in high-risk traffic stops and roadside interview techniques designed to detect deceptive behavior.

Instruction on proper Canine Deployment will be provided to attendees with special emphasis on identifying concealment methods being utilized by gang members and drug-traffickers, while learning the best practices for breaching these hides.

As Traffic Stops increase, so does the probability that an officer will interdict large shipments of drugs as they are being moved from one location to another. During these interdiction stops, officers are often confronted with potentially dangerous and/or deadly situations while being challenged more today than ever before. Defiance is the new norm.

Surviving the complete traffic stop workshop consists of eight modules. The modules will be presented together, but not necessarily in the following order;

  1. Introduction
  2. Indicators and Detection Methods
  3. Legal Considerations
  4. Roadside Interview Techniques
  5. Professionalism at the Traffic Stop
  6. Passenger Vehicle Concealment Locations
  7. Review of Officer Safety Issues
  8. Conclusion
