Paul Orcutt

Paul ’s canine passion started at the age of 6 years old. That passion for Police Canine work was instilled by Paul’s Grand father who was a Police officer.

Mr. Orcutt spent ten years active duty in United States Marine Corps and served in the First Gulf War and later in the Somalia conflict. After leaving the Corps Paul was hired to perform contract work for the Central Intelligence Agency as a K9 Handler / Trainer for a Classified Clandestine K9 Program . While in performance of his duties Paul has trained with and certified with over thirty canine explosives detection teams for duty in the most hostile and austere condition. While deployed over several years Paul and his K9 partner Iro and later after Iro retired K9 Lucy found more than their fair share of Explosive Devices and IED’s and where directly responsible for saving hundreds of lives.

In 2013 Paul was hired as the Chief Training Instructor for AMK9 and was tasked to develop and implement a Canine training program for the WPS Department of State Diplomatic Security Branch. Between 2013 and 2017 Paul and his team of trainers and Instructors tested and selected ,trained ,Certified through the Department of State’s Canine Validation Center as well as Department of Defense over 700 K9 teams that would have to re-certify two times a year. Paul has also been trained and certified by Auburn University as a Vapor Wake handler and Trainer. Paul has trained, managed and deployed Vapor Wake K9 teams for Major VIP events nationally.

Paul is one of the founding partners of one of the Largest K9 companies in the world, Global K9 Protection Group,Global K9 Solutions, and Global View. Mr. Orcutt held the position of Chief Operation officer, Vice President of Canine Training for all three companies. Paul was responsible for K9 selection,K9 training, and established and managed the K9 handlers Explosive Detection Course as well as the Multi Purpose K9 Course. Global K9 Protection Group is the industry leader in the TSA Third Party K9 Program (TSA 3PK9) which is monitored and regulated by TSA. All of Global’s K9 teams on the 3PK9 program are U.S. Government certified through TSA 3PK9 program.The 3PK9 program is an Explosive Detection Canine program developed to screen air cargo.

Paul is currently a Master Trainer with United Police Work Dog Association. Paul also serves as the Accreditation Chairman for the association.

Mr. Orcutt was also a judge of the first mock Nose Work trial which was put on by the National Association of K9 Scent work. Since that first trial Paul has trained and help hundreds of competitors compete at the highest level with great success. The most important of all the success is the relationship and non verbal communication between dog and handler.

Paul has a very broad experience level that reaches deep into the professional working dog sector as well as the pet / sport word of detection. Mr. Orcutt has been part of and currently involved in multiple Canine Olfaction studies which were/are conducted with the U.S. Government and leading Universities. Paul has a very unique skill set that covers the science, training and operational areas of both military and civilian sector of the Canine Detection industry.

In closing Paul feels that there is no more therapeutic activity for a dog than to help develop its God given gifts of sniffing out a trained target odor. Paul’s witnessed first hand with hundreds of pet dogs as well as working dogs the magic of detection and what it can do for everybody dogs confidence and overall Happiness!
