Brenda G. Mills, DVM, CVA is a 1998 graduate of the veterinary school at UCDavis, practicing in Livermore, CA since 2000, at what is now Integrative Veterinary Care. Her interest in behavior and training was influenced by her pre-vet school time at a clinic in Scotts Valley with a veterinarian who was very active in training and rescue work and by her own personal first dog, a very busy Catahoula. Her interest in performance dog health, geriatric care, and the treatment of chronic pain has been shaped through caring for dogs in her own household (more than 20 since 1998, mostly rescues, the majority of whom have had jobs in Agility and/or Nosework) and her own experiences with chronic pain. She attended the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course led by Dr. Narda Robinson in 2006 and the Veterinary Medical Manipulation course led by Dr. Carla Pasteur in 2019.
Dr. Mills’ practice supports the care of athletic dogs involved in Agility, Obedience, Rally, gun dogs, dogs engaged in protection sports, Nosework dogs, and a number of professional detection dogs.
Dr. Mills currently resides in Tracy, California with an assortment of five dogs, one crazy horse (her “Prozac pony”), and one opinionated Amazon parrot. She has been involved in Agility since 1996 and Nosework since about 2010. Her main recreational activities are exorcising her Vizsla and her German Shepherd mix and nerding out on veterinary CE and dog training.
