Jason Alter is a Public Safety Bomb Technician with the Riverside Police Department’s Special Operations Division (Bomb Squad) in Southern California. With 10 years of law enforcement experience, Officer Alter has been a certified bomb technician for 4 years and a K-9 handler since 2023. His K-9 partner, Knox, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, is trained on over 30 odors, including commercial and homemade explosives, firearms, and ammunition. They train daily to maintain peak performance.
Officer Alter frequently works with outside local and federal agencies, contributing to major events such as the Rose Bowl Parade and Dignitary visits. Knox’s work has earned multiple awards and commendations for pre-event sweeps and emergency operations.
